Drake has been one of those artists I’m very in the middle with. From what I’ve heard so far in his discography, it’s been fine. $ome $exy $ongs 4 U was not a very good project, just mostly boring more than anything. Views was a bloated mess with terrible lyrics but some good singing moments. For All The Dogs was an overhated album but still isn’t the best. It’s got some of Drake’s best writing (in his new era) and some of Drake’s worst. Finally, Nothing Was The Same is Drakes best project so far. Its production, its singing, his writing, the features, everything was great about it. The only thing bad about it is some songs aren’t memorable.

Obviously, I haven’t listened to Drake’s best album according to fans, that being Take Care. I’ve heard three songs, Headlines, Look What You’ve Done, and Make Me Proud. I personally love Headlines and LWYD but Make Me Proud isn’t as good as the other two. My main reason I’m listening to this album is because of its debut week. It has 613,000 and it’s honestly insane to think about. So I wanted to know if this album deserved the hatred by fans or if it’s over-hated and needs some more love.

As always, Drake’s intros have never failed, Tuscan Leather being my main example. Champagne Poetry is one of his weakest, but it’s not bad. It’s got a solid beat with an interesting beat switch. Some of the flows are catchy, but some of his lyrics just aren’t true. The first lyrics you hear on the album are, “I’ve been hot since the birth of my son, I remain unfazed, trust, the worst has been done.” I hate to sound like the hater but I just don’t believe him on this. Pusha T kinda ruined Drake’s career with one of the best diss tracks period. Literally everything else about this song is good.

Papi’s Home is another pretty good track to start off this album. It’s got a nice sampled beat and I think Drake does solid on it. It’s not like blowing my mind or anything, however it’s still nice. Two very simplistic songs to start off with which isn’t a bad thing but can be very hard if you are gonna do that for 21 songs. Then, we start to dip down in quality fast. Girls Want Girls is probably Drake’s most embarrassing song to date. Or it’s a close second to MEET YOUR PADRE, I can’t really decide. The lesbian bar is very stupid and Drake doesn’t do anything creative with it. I swear, if you give any other rapper a bar like this, they can do something fun with it. However, Drake just makes it boring and this song is just fillies with terrible bars. Lil Baby is also on this song and by god.. it is awful. He is auto tuned to all hell and it reminds me of the Kars For Kids commercials. It’s that bad.

In The Bible is another bad song with a not good Lil Durk feature. Drake was boring and the GIVEON feature was nothing. The guitar solo would be nice if it wasn’t 20 seconds and you can’t hear it that well. That’s just a few examples but there’s like two more highlights.

Fair Trade and You Only Live Twice are both good songs that made it on to this shitty record. The rest are either terrible, forgettable, or just meh. It’s one of Drake’s most memorable projects for all the wrong reasons. That’s why I’m giving this a 47.
